Marino Regini

Marino Regini is Professor Emeritus at the University of Milan where he teaches in the doctoral programme in Economic Sociology and Labour Studies. He served as Deputy Rector for post-graduate training and internationalization, Dean of the faculty of Political Science, as well as Head of the School of Journalism and of the Graduate School of Social and Political Sciences.

He studied at Columbia University and at the University of California, Berkeley, and he taught in a number of universities in Italy and abroad, among which: the Universities of Trento and Urbino, Harvard, MIT, John Hopkins, Duke, Central European, Pompeu Fabra.

He is Former President and an Honorary Fellow of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE), and a Former President of the Research Committee on Labor Movements of the International Sociological Association. He is an editorial board member, or former member, of several international journals such as Socio-Economic Review, European Sociological Review, European Journal of Industrial Relations, Stato e Mercato. He was also a member of several ministerial committees; in 2020, he was a member of the Italian Prime Minister’s expert committee on economic and social matters (a.k.a. Colao task force). Currently, he is the president of the ‘UNIMI 2040 project group’. His latest research focuses on higher education systems, though his academic reputation is mostly due to research in comparative political economy and industrial relations.
